Brain Health Center PSC is a specialized mental health practice that serves adults and children in Lexington, Kentucky, and its surrounding counties.

Led by psychiatrist Jacob Bishop, MD, the Medical Director of Brain Health Center, the practice provides cutting-edge psychiatric treatment for a wide range of mental health disorders. In addition, the practice is currently the only provider of cutting-edge transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy in Lexington.

TMS is a safe, non-invasive procedure that is FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression. Off-label indications for TMS include anxiety disorders, addiction, age-related cognitive decline, chronic pain, insomnia, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder), and bipolar depression. TMS appointments range from 3 to 20 minutes and do not require hospitalization or general anesthesia. Effects are generally long-lasting following 30-40 treatments.

TMS works by precisely targeting brain regions to modify how large-scale brain networks interact. Due to this level of precision, TMS does not result in the adverse side effects typically associated with medications (weight gain, insomnia, sexual problems, memory deficits).
